Electromagnetic Pulse: North Korea’s Latest Threat Against U.S. Mirrors EMP Book by TD Barnes

TEOTWAWK. “The end of the world as we know it” This ring true when a new US missile defense measure causes a nuclear-tipped Chinese rocket test to change course and target Beijing. In the heat of the moment, a Chinese missile officer triggers the release of an Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) device in Earth orbit as part of the nation’s deterrent to a pre-emptive attack. The incident triggers the release of nuclear weapons that brings the dreaded nuclear winter that circles the globe for four years. Ninety percent of the Earth’s population will perish in the aftermath.
The EMP series realistically depicts the life of a group of survivors living underground in the wake of an EMP and nuclear attack that destroys electronic devices and the electric power grids over much of the world. The story follows the life of a group of survivors sheltered inside the unused Yucca Mountain nuclear waste repository at Jackass Flats, Nevada. At the same time, book one of the EMP series depicts what to expect in such a dreadful event that could happen at the hands of a rogue nation. North Korea, Iran, or even terrorists can deliver such a device on board a ship or even a backpack from across the border of a targeted nation. It could be a matter of when rather than a matter of if. In any case, the desperate efforts to survive following such an attack will be brutal above all imagination.

George Knapp Interviews Area 51 Veteran and Author TD Barnes

Barnes Interview

The CIA Area 51 Chronicles is a three-book illustrated series covering the CIA era at Area 51 from 1955 to 1979.

Earlier this month, Barnes release a 4th book, “Aviation Legions of the Battle Born State,” recognizing the men, women, and organizations who pioneered aerospace and aviation in the Battle Born State of Nevada. Becoming the West Coast line of Defense during World War II, Nevada has produced the most astronauts of any state, the NERVA nuclear rocket engine, and the classified science and technology developed in obscurity at venues such as Area 51 & TTR.

Barnes has a 5th book, “The Secret Genesis of Area 51” being released on September 4 by publisher Arcadia/History Press.

The United States and the Soviet Union are in a Cold War and have fought a proxy war in Korea. The Soviet Union is expanding Communism behind its closed borders and is competing with the United States in the Nuclear, weapons, and space races. The United States needs to know what the Soviet Union is up to behind the Iron Curtain, but to do so requires a revolutionary surveillance plane capable of overflying the Soviet Union undetected and high enough to escape the missiles of its Cold War enemy. When the US Air Force refuses to develop such a plane, the US president goes to the Central Intelligence Agency who undertakes the development of the U-2 plane. The CIA needs a remote location to secretly develop the U-2 and to train its pilots. The agency selects a remote site in Nevada along the nation’s western line of defense established in World War II. The secret location becomes known as Area 51.

Author TD Barnes Joins CIA A-12 Pilot in Recounting Area 51 Legacy

On March 22, 2017, TD Barnes, Area 51 veteran, and author joined CIA pilot Frank Murray, CIA codename Dutch 20, in a presenting the CIA’s Project OXCART legacy at Area 51 and its Operation BLACK SHIELD flying reconnaissance over North Vietnam and North Korea. In 2012, Barnes inshrined Frank Murray into the Nevada Aerospace Hall of Fame of which Barnes is the executive director. Barnes is also the president of Roadrunners Internationale, an association of the CIA, Air Force, and contractors participating the CIA U-2 and A-12 Blackbird programs at Area 51. Barnes, the author of numerous books is noted for his three-book novel series on EMP, a nonfiction book titled “MiGs Over Nevada, and his biography, “My Odyssey to Area 51.” Barnes’s historical book, “The Secret Genesis of Area 51” published by Arcadia/History Press is due for release on September 4, 2017. Another three-book illustrated series being released soon is the nonfiction “Area 51 Chronicles,” an account of the CIA era at Area 51.

Pentagton is Struggling with electronic warfare

TD Barnes, formerly with Army Intelligence, and a veteran of the NASA High Range and the CIA’s Area 51 in Nevada has a three-book series published in paperback and ebook that depicts the world following an preemptive EMP attack on the United States. Books by TD Barnes

The EMP series realistically depicts the life of the survivors living underground in the aftermath of an EMP and nuclear attack that destroys electronic devices and the electric power grids over much of the world.
In Book 1, survivors of an atmospheric EMP attack followed by a nuclear attack take refuge inside the Yucca Mountain underground complex in Nevada. This mismatch of personalities struggle to survive the resulting nuclear winter while living confined inside a mountain under siege by lethal radiation levels and other survivors fighting for water and food.
Book One takes the reader through the attack and realistically addresses logistics, security, survivor selection, social, cultural, education, and other issues required to prepare a society capable of rebuilding a nation devoid of the technology they once depended on.
Warning – you will find in this book that the aftermath of an EMP attack is not pretty.

In Book 2, the survivors come out of the Yucca Mountain underground complex to find themselves under the surveillance of Islamic activists who survived in Central America devastated by the nuclear winter. The Brotherhood is relocating to the farmlands in Arizona and takes control of the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River for the generated electricity needed by the Islamic calibrate. The jet stream returns the fallout of the nuclear winter back to the region. The survivors in the mountain repel attacks by the Brotherhood and enter the next phase of nuclear winter prepared to battle the Islamic Brotherhood and drive them from the region.

Book Three realistically depicts life post World War III. After four years, the EMP and nuclear winter survivors finally emerge from their underground shelter with expectations of resuming life free of the restrictions imposed by martial law. They continue their battle with Islamic Jihadists commenced shortly before the return of nuclear winter. The main body of survivors relocates to Nellis AFB to begin rebuilding a society. The hardships continue with the survivors again driven into shelters from El Nino winds carrying radiation carried aloft by the fire storms raging on the West Coast. The nuclear winter returns early, but not before the outpost at the mountain and base camp at Nellis AFB establish visual communication. A fast-moving storm carrying lethal radiation levels takes a heavy toll on the mountain survivors.

T.D.:
Just finished your book, what a pleasure. This book has got to be
the best documentation about the Ranch that has ever been written.
Only a very few would have the experience and the overall knowledge
to even attempt such a task. Congratulations on completing this task,
it should be mandatory reading for all Roadrunners!

Col. Jeffrey Church, the head of the Army’s electronic warfare division, in a recent interview said that the United States doesn’t have the gear. Colonel Church reports, “We’re working on getting it, [but] we’re talking years down the road, when our adversaries are doing this right now.”
