2010 BARNES REUNION

Amarillo, Texas

The descendants of Cloid Ottis and Mattie Lee (Norris) Barnes held their annual reunion in Amarillo, TX, June 25-26, 2010. Forty-one family members gathered on Friday night, June 25, for a delicious Weiner roast and visiting at Thompson Park. On Saturday fifty-four family members met at the Pleasant Valley United Methodist church fellowship hall for a magnificent barbeque lunch and all the trimmings. Following lunch, family group pictures were taken and lots of visiting and catching up of family news. The conclusion of the day’s activities was an auction of a wide variety of family, homemade, and other kinds of items.

Cloid Ottis & Mattie Lee Norris Barnes were the parents of twelve children, including the late Sanford Barnes, Sentinel. Since the reunion last met two years ago, the remaining two of the twelve, Jennie Barnes Smith Crawford and Margie Barnes Jackson Aistrup have passed away. Additional deaths since then have been former Sentinel resident, Alene Barnes, Sanford’s widow and four cousins, Connie Ruff, John Ruff, Randi Jackson, John Mann. The last living spouse of any of the twelve children, Dottie Barnes Benjamin, Amarillo, was in attendance also. Family members came from the states of Alabama, Arizona, California, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.

Those attending from the Sanford Barnes family were Manlif & Maxine Barnes, Raylene Barnes & friends, Don Stone & Konetta Canfield, Brenda & Ronnie Allen, Beverly Barnes, Becky, Alexis, & Emily Adams, Randy, Grace, & Keifer Allen, Denise & Brad Nelson, Rhiannon Griffin, Jonathan Griffin, and Deanie Davis. From the Shannon Barnes family were Berlin, Janet, & Karly Barnes, Granville & Kay Barnes, and Rex & Trish Barnes. From the Margie Barnes Jackson Aistrip family were J.B. & Joyce Jackson, James Jackson and friend, Jean Ann Foster. From the Hob Barnes family were Orin & Karen Barnes, Darin, Brooke, Lorin, & Rilee Barnes, Gordon & Lynette Barnes, Lenise Barnes, Ralph Ruff, Lee & Michelle Ruff, Ashlee & Marissa Ruff, Johnathan, Randi, & Kayson Conner, and Janie McBee. From the Jennie Barnes Smith Crawford family were Betty Marcoe and Michael Marcoe. From the George Barnes family was Dottie Barnes Benjamin. From the Levita Barnes Marshall family were Diana & Bob Coonce, and Rhonda Marshall.

Plans were made for the reunion to be held at the same place in two years.
