AREA 51 An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base
AREA 51, An Uncensored History of America’s Top Secret Military Base by Annie Jacobsen was released on 17 May 2011, five days prior to the release of the National Geographic documentary “Area 51 Declassified” on the National Geographic Channel. Several of the veterans featured in the book participated in Annie Jacobsen’s book signing at the Paseo Verde Library in Henderson, Nevada on 26 May 2011. Hosted by Arlene Caruso, Assist Branch Manager, Area 51 and Atomic veterans Harry Martin, Jim Freedman, TD Barnes, Roger Andersen, Richard Mingus and Al O’Donnell all engaged in a fascinating Q & A with a huge crowd that ended up being standing room only.
Colonel Slater, commander of the 1129th SAS at Area 51 also signed a few books for the public attending the event. Among those attending the event were Allan Palmer, Director of the Atomic Testing Museum and Kathleen Frantz, Development Director of the ATM.
The following day, Area 51 Veteran T.D. Barnes accompanied Nicole Dewey with Little Brown publishers, Author Annie Jacobsen, and a CBS television crew to Rachel, Nevada for a photo shot and interview of Jacobsen and Barnes at the Little A’Le’Inn.
This Thursday, June 2nd, a similar such event will take place at the Santa Monica public library in Los Angeles. Edward Lovick, Ken Collins, Bob Murphy and Wayne Pendleton will be there with Mrs. Jacobsen signing books with her and answering questions about their individual roles in the incredible science and technology projects at Area 51.
