CIA Bride is a biography of the life of Velma and Werner Weiss, a CIA family starting during World War II when Velma worked for the CIA in England and continuing into Area 51 in the Nevada desert where Werner, a.k.a. the Desert Fox, commanded Project OXCART, the CIA's A-12 Mach 3 spyplane. The book takes one into the internal personnel affairs of the CIA during overseas assignments. Velma and Werner leave England at the end of World War II for assignment in Japan with the CIA U-2 reconnaissance plane. From there, they spend eight years in Las Vegas with Werner alternating to Kadena during the Vietnam War. They transfer to Paris where Velma and Chief of Station Werner Weiss hosts Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in their home in Paris during his secret talks with the North Vietnamese army to attempt to end the Vietnam War. After Werner dies in Las Vegas, Velma wants to return to England, but her health would not let her.

Soaring with the Eagles by Thornton D. "TD" Barnes is a nonfiction book by a veteran of the NASA High Range and Groom Lake where he and others pioneered the NASA X-15, XB-70, and Lifting Bodies. Barnes was recruited for the CIA A-12 Oxcart at Groom Lake where he remained as Special Projects cadre for the Soviet MiG exploitation programs, the early days of stealth. Not only is the state of Nevada a world leader in the development and testing of terrestrial aviation and aerospace, it also holds that distinction for extraterrestrial flight as well.
