CIA War Bride is a biography of the life of Velma and Werner Weiss, a CIA family. They meet during World War II when he and Velma are working for the CIA in England. Their work takes them to Japan where Werner managed the U-2 surveillance plane detachment deployed from Area 51. The CIA reopens Area 51 for the test flying the revolutionary Mach 3 replacement for the U-2 and brings Werner and Velma to the Nevada desert for him to command the project code-named OXCART. At Area 51, Werner is known as the Desert Fox. Their next assignment takes them to Paris where they host secretary of state Henry Kissinger and his entourage in their home during secret negotiations with the North Vietnamese for ending the war. The author worked with Werner Weiss at Area 51 and was a close friend of Velma Weiss until her death.
